Who is behind this
I’m Michael. I built The Mainland because nobody taught us the process.
I spent my career in business analysis at the Financial Times, Daily Mail Group and Euromoney — the work of breaking risky, complicated things into steps, checks and evidence. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. Chartered member of the BCS. A Corporate Director Certificate from Harvard Business School. I sit on the board of a West African telecoms operator, and I live in Accra, where every checklist here has been run against the real registries.

62% of the Ghanaian diaspora in the UK want to start a business back home. Only 16% have one.
The gap isn’t ambition, and it isn’t money. In a 2026 survey of 366 diaspora respondents, 86.3% named distrust of home-country institutions as the thing that holds them back, and 78.7% named fear of fraud. The Mainland exists to close that gap — one verified step at a time.
